He is a graduate in graphic design, having studied at the Accademia di Belli Arti. Subsequently, he became creative director for the Pietro Pianforini knitwear company. He has also designed for a number of other Italian brands including Iceberg and Mariella Burani.

Alessandro Dell'Acqua launched his own ready to wear collection in 1996, in Italy. His designs were embraced by the fashion world, as they were stylish and combined chic tailoring with feminity. Encouraged by his success, Alessandro launched his menswear line in 1998.
