Sigerson and Morrison met by chance in a design class at the Fashion Institute of Technology held in New York City, and in 1991 they founded their brand, Sigerson and Morrison. However, it was not until 2004 that the diffusion brand, Belle by Sigerson Morrison, was founded, named after Kari's daughter Eva Belle.
