Bionda Castana is Italian for "Blonde Brunette" and indeed, the company is run by two London based designers, Jennifer Portman and Natalia Barbieri, who are not only blonde (Jennifer) and brunette (Natalia), but also design shoes that should be placed at the very heart of a woman's wardrobe.

Established in 2007, the brand has rapidly gained recognition and in 2008 Bionda Castana won the award for Best New Accessories Designer at the "Who is on Next/Vogue Italia" Event in Rome.
