Michael Kors is an American shoe designer who started his career at 19 years of age, when he designed a clothing collection for a New York boutique. His designs were successful straight away and were reported on favourably by fashion magazines, encouraging Michael to set out on his own. So, in 1981, the Michael Kors label was founded. Michael's first collections were sold at Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue department stores in New York.
It wasn't until 2001 that Michael Kors started to design and sell accessories to go with his ready to wear fashion clothing, and his range now includes shoes glorious shoes, bags, belts and sunglasses.
Michael Kors clothing and footwear are sold at his boutiques on Madison Avenue, at the Americana Manhasset and Rodeo Drive. He also has boutiques in Hong Kong and Dubai, but not the UK (although you can buy his shoes online at discount prices from Koodos).
Many celebrities favour the Kors by Michael Kors brand, including Barbra Streisand, Catherine Zeta Jones, Sharon Stone, Kate Bosworth, Jessica Simpson and Sigourney Weaver.
