Rodo is a family owned Italian company that was founded in the 1950s by Romualdo Dori, famed for its wonderful shoes and bags. The name of the company was made by taking the first two letters of his first name and surname and combining them. The first Rodo collection consisted of a line of bags made from delicate wicker work, which have since been refinded to include gold embellishments and hardware. The Rodo range of evening bags are made fron the finest leather, materials and hardware materials, often making use of swarovski crystals and gold or silver plated hardware, all of which is applied by hand by craftsmen. The company's current designer is Maurizio Dori.
It wasn't until 1978 that Rodo expanded its range to include shoes. The same standards of craftmanship are applied to the shoes as to the bags, and the shoes have become very popular.
Celebrities who have been seen out and about with Rodo shoes and bags include Empress Masako of Japan, Princess Carolina of Monaco, Jennifer Lopez, Uma Thurman, Goldie Hawn, Catherine Zeta Jones, Charlize Theron, Beyoncé Knowles, Zooey Deschanel, Kate Winslet and Teri Hatcher.
Rodo is stocked at both Harrods and Harvey Nichols. In addition, you may be able to find Rodo shoes in a designer boutique in your town. For example, I have seen them for sale in Yarm, at a designer boutique called "The House" on the High Street.
